I worked as a journalist in newspapers, radio and TV for over 20 years. After starter jobs in newspapers and radio, I got my first TV job in Casper, Wyoming in 1986. After that, I bounced around the southeast, including spending 7 years at CNN
I got one of those “jobs of a lifetime,” and switched to the private sector in 2007. It was a short lifetime and I was laid off in early 2009. I started this blog to discuss the issues facing people without work.
I got a TV production job after a couple of months as an unemployment statistic, this time at a smaller, privately-owned organization. Now I’ll be talking about anything that crosses my mind.
Doug,
I’m working on a story for The Commercial Appeal about being laid off, whether there is still a stigma associated with it and how people are coping with being laid off.
I was wondering if you’d be willing to talk with me for this story.
Thanks for your help,
Richard J. Alley

Hello Doug,
I worked with you at the Casper, Wyoming TV station. I would love to catch up on the last 23 years. I’m still in the business too, however, I jumped into the corporate side and still have a job which amazes me everyday. Please contact me when you get a chance.
